osu-trophy Las Vegas, Nev. While the big news coming out of the HoopTV Las Vegas Invitational were the two losses by the highly ranked Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois, it was coach Travis Ford’s Oklahoma State Cowboys that made all the noise and won the championship game Saturday evening, defeating the Utah Utes 77-55 to take the trophy. James Anderson’s 26 points paced the Cowboys in the win.

Coach Jim Boylen’s Utah Utes, who defeated Bruce Weber and the University of Illinois Friday night on an exciting buzzer beater with .01 on the clock seemed to run out of steam against the powerful Cowboys on Saturday night in the championship game at the beautiful Orleans Arena.

Illinois, still licking it’s wounds from Friday night’s loss to Utah had a chance for it’s first win on Saturday evening but ran into cross state rival Bradley University. Coach Jim Les had the Braves ready for battle as they too pinned another loss on the Illini making them 0-2 for the weekend. Weber and crew were more than ready to leave Las Vegas.

Other teams rounding out a great holiday weekend of holiday hoops included Seattle University, Southern University, Wofford College and Presbyterian College.
